UPDATE IN NEWARK POST: “Newark City Council revives bridge project after new funding sources emerge“

On Monday evening, Newark City Council will re-consider the proposed “Charles Emerson Bridge” project, which would build a  bicycle and pedestrian bridge over White Clay Creek just west of Paper Mill Road to extend Newark’s growing pathway network north of the city.

In bicycle-friendly Newark (the city is one of only two cities in Delaware that have been designated as bicycle-friendly communities) both of the area’s state legislators – State Representative Paul Baumbach and State Senator Dave Sokola – are stepping up with funding pledges for the project totaling $150,000.

Public comment will be permitted. If you live in Newark and are passionate about helping make Newark more bicycle-friendly, this is a time to show up and be seen and heard from.
