This Bridge Over The Susquehanna River, Built in 1906, Is Being Replaced. If We Miss The Opportunity Now For A Bike Crossing Here, We’ll Have To Wait Another 100 Years. So Sign This Petition.
A replacement for a 108 year old bridge over the Susquehanna River in Maryland has been funded and will be built in the next few years by the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT).
Will the new bridge permit cyclists and pedestrians to cross the Susquehanna River?
The nearest crossing for cyclists is in Pennsylvania….42 miles upstream!
It would be a particularly fine idea to sign this petition urging the Maryland Department of Transportation it include accommodation for walkers and cyclists in the replacement bridge.
Otherwise, we may have to wait until the 22nd century for another chance to get across the Susquehanna River.
Please add your voice by signing this petition to MDOT HERE.
Thanks to our friends at the East Coast Greenway Alliance for their leadership on this.

It is important that we encourage bicycle riding for health and for transportation, and more bike trails in our area will encourage greater tourism!
All bridges should include a bike / pedestrian path.
